Mind Melodies

Laying on the floor buried with an onslaught of unrest melodies around his life everything appeared to be murky. Before he could think of a solution, addressing one his problem, another problem came knocking his memory lane.

After a while, without giving any thought he got up and approached his imperfectly crafted, so called, cupboard. It was more of a room for his stuff and less of a cupboard.  His, so called, cupboard was divided in three shelves having no inner divide in each shelf. Almost junk stuff, but still worthy of holding on to, occupied the lower shelf. Middle shelf occupied his clothes and personal accessories. Upper shelf held his books and a big carton.

As soon as he laid his sight on the carton every single pandemic unrest that occupied the whole of his mind took a back seat. A reactive uncontrollable smile spread on his lips. At this point he was not mindful of the chain reaction happening within. Like one good emotion would attract another good emotion, he went on actioning without thinking.

While removing the carton from the upper shelf a jerky move splashed some dust, entering his nose. He quickly placed the carton on the floor expecting a reactive sneeze. Within a fraction of a second, he reacted with a “trying for a controlled sneeze” but eventually it was out of control, a peculiarity of every sneeze with everybody.

Having noticed a thin layer of dust settled over the cartoon and all over the cupboard particularly on the upper and lower shelf. He grabbed a dusting cloth and went on to unsettle the dust over the carton first and then resisting his immense desire to open the carton he decided to “Eat That Frog”. Like savoring the sweet dish, he kept the carton waiting until he was finished with cleaning the entire cupboard.

He never realized that cleaning could be such a daunting task until he did it all by himself. At one point he even felt like giving up, but some strange thought pushed him to continue cleaning. He was doing something right. He had occupied himself with something trivial but hygienically important. This simple trivial act also allowed him to clear the cloud of pandemic unrest surrounding his mind. Without his realization he was not only clearing the dust settled outside him but also within.

Also, what he did not realize initially was the umpteen amounts of hours and the physical labor that this simple trivial act demanded. After having finally finished the daunting task, which was initially bothering him, he settled with a sense of accomplishment for the day.

After taking a shower and having a light dinner, he sat beside the carton all tired.

This carton acted as a hyperlink to past nostalgic melodies, holding gifts from his friends and more than friends, scraps that he secretly held on to… wishing that one day he might ask this question to his loved ones "do you remember this???"... wishing to make them feel special about themselves. Each gift had the potential to teleport him to a different dimension of his past. He could virtually live his past in the present by recollecting moments coupled with those gifts. Peoples faces, places and moments would cross his mind at the speed of light. Besides, beyond his control not all recollections of the past sang melodies to his liking. At one time it would make him reminisce over broken promises, at another time, it would make him laugh at the pranks that he could recollect and there were also times were he would cry and settle with a sad feeling.

Here in this moment, sitting beside the carton in a tired state, having a sense of accomplishment, he was feeling all meditative and calm.

He did not long to open the cartoon and dwell on past nostalgic moments to pollute the harmony of his meditative calm mind. There was sense of clarity in his mind. He realized how one simple trivial act occupied him away from the pandemic unrest clouding his mind. He realized, how feeling of accomplishment after completing simple trivial acts like these can snowball into changing his entire mind melody for the good and that he does not have to fallback of past melodies in search of good mind melodies when he can change his mind melody every day at will out of simple trivial acts.

He placed the carton back on the upper shelf and went to bed naively wishing good night to himself with a peaceful mind.

"Every day we all dance to the melody dictated by our mind, while we should live and dance to good melodies, bad melodies can be addressed... by occupying and surrendering ourselves to simple trivial acts around our lives..."

Few Years Later

This is few years after parting away Im seeing her again Standing across a distance accompanied by a stranger Putting on a beautiful smile I have wilfully dreamt of this dreadful moment for many a times Dreadful because of the varied outcome it entails One of the most dreadful outcome was in answering to myself, Will she recognise me??If not Such lack of recognition would define what I meant to her It would exactly mean what a crowd of people walking under the bridge mean to a  person standing over the bridge for a smoke As no crowd ever had any face, All they have is a very visible unidentified presence More importantly it says a smoker just doesn't give a damn It would be more than any human indignation possible, as it also reaffirms that you are not remembered Which would prove that my favourite song "you are not alone" by MJ which use to bring some respite at one among many moments of despair,  was not for me My heart started gathering pace with beati...

a journey to a spotless mind

"Congratulations, it's a Baby Girl", the doctor says, as he hands over the new born baby girl to her mother while the nurse straps the umbilical cord. Chapter 1: Dream Dreams are, in fact, manifestations of reality, it is the amount of mutation that reality undergoes in our mind that makes it appear far-fetched. It is an unusual dream, he thought. Asleep. Dreaming. Conscious. Like a fly on the wall, he was quietly experiencing and sneaking on his own dream. He was mind boggled by the visuals that his dream had to offer. The visuals were unlike anything that he would possibly experience in waking life.  The sky up above was deep bluish dark with a million stars twinkling, there was no sight of the moon. But the thing that he was boggled by, was the surreal fact that, even though the sky called it night, his surroundings were brightly lit as day. At a closer look he saw millions-and-millions of rainbow’ish molecular self-lit tiny bubbles floating in the surrounding and ligh...

Wonder

How many number of times a day do we look ourselves in the mirror?? And most of every such time we are posing just one question "Do I look alright??" expecting a confirmation from the reflection part of us that   "You look perfect" or "You look pretty alright" or "Not bad" We have been doing this day in and day out so much that its almost like an unnoticeable self centered routine part of us, among others things This evening I watched the trailer of a movie called "Wonder", which revolved around a kid called Auggie having a disfigured face due to multiple surgeries The trailer was indeed moving After watching the trailer I was forced to think as to "How many times do people having a disfigured face or people having marks on their faces look themselves in the mirror?? If they do even once a day or a week, do they expect a confirmation from the mirror as to how they look?? I'm not really sure, what reality is.... But I...
